Living in Gold Country
My time in the garden holds very special moments in my life. The most favorite time to wander among the flowers is at twilight time--it is just after the sun has set, its blazing glory highlighting each floral and foliage perfection, and just as the light begins to fade and shadows deepen. As I behold the wonders that the garden unfolds before me, I press closer to enter that world, the world so visible and accessible to us, yet oftentime so hidden in the secret time of evening. Another world comes to life when ours stills.
I kneel to savor the fragrance of a lovely bloom, brushing its petals with my cheek and I delight in the softness of them, and in the brilliant colors. In early spring, the evening shower sits on her leaves in shimmering globes. The bend of her stem in the soft light, supple and strong, the almost translucent petals; the effect is breathtaking. As the waning light of twilight clasps her to its bosom, her color intensified by the setting sun, she literally glows. In that instant, total perfection is brought into immediate focus, and nightfall, as a velvet cloak, captures her loveliness in a swirl of darkness.
One finds beauty not only in the freshness of spring, but in the blooms of summer, the golden chants of fall, and the sparkling, white diamonds of winter. Each holds their magic deep within, secrets that will be displayed in their own time, their own triumphant moment, their Joy de Vive!
Colorful trailing Geraniums tumble from their pot, blooming until frost each year. Easy to care for, there are several varieties; one will suit you.
